Many couples have discovered to their dismay that the beautiful church they got married in and which holds beautiful memories is not legally registered to wed couples. And therefore in the eyes of the law, their marriage is illegal.

The big question now is, Is your Church Licensed to carry out marriage?

Recall that the Minister of Interior had stated that statutory weddings conducted in places of worship that were not licensed by it were not legal.

He also said that only 314 worship centres in the country were licensed to contract statutory weddings.

The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, has said through its legal adviser that said the Federal Government had an ulterior motive for insisting that churches must obtain licences from the Interior ministry.

But in the actual sense, many believe that this had always being the law and the marriage Act is as old as Methuselah.

Well, DV111.com has gotten a comprehensive list of the original Marriage districts as set out by the Marriage Act and how they were further increased as Local governments increased.
