In a 12-count charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/256/2020, Simon Lough, an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Legal/Prosecution Section, Force Headquarters, Abuja, filed the suit against Ugwuowo for submitting forged documents to the Supreme Court to qualify him for the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The Nation report.
Ugwuowo, according to Lough, forged four documents marked SC/69/1998; SC/99/2004; SC/195/2011, and SC/322/2014.
The lawyer’s formal arraignment, scheduled for December 3, 2020, was put off due to the failure of the prosecution to produce him when the case was called in the court.
In view of the priviledges the application for the rank if Senior Advocate of Nigeria confers on the bearer, it is highly competitive among lawyers in Nigeria and if one does not cross his T’s and dots his I’s, he is in for traumatic trouble.
Would this suit be thrown out or not?
