Chile has a very strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols and the prespresident of Chile Sebastian Piñera has been slapped with a fine of $3,5000 after a selfie emerged showing him not wearing a mask, as required by Chile’s strict rules with a woman.
Pinera apologized then turned himself in shortly after the selfie surfaced on social media in early December.
His reason been that he had been walking alone along the beach near his home in the posh Chilean seaside town of Cachagua when a woman recognized him and asked for a photo together.
The selfie shows the president and the woman standing very near to one another on a sunny day, neither wearing masks.
