A personal vendetta or na? Five days after Hon. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, queried the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act used to suspend Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months which, according to her, was not specified in the Act. Citing the suspension as excessive.
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, has been removed as chairman of the Senate Committee on diaspora and NGOs. This was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary.
The Senate President thereafter announced Senator Aniekan Bassey of Cross River State as her successor.
With Senator Bassey now at the helm of the Diaspora and NGOs Committee, the Senate has effectively closed the chapter on Akpoti-Uduaghan’s short-lived leadership of two strategic committees.
Would the Senator be redundant in the house? Let’s hear your thoughts 💭
