King Charles III has stripped Prince Andrew of his princely title and evicted him from Royal Lodge amid pressure over his Epstein ties.
Buckingham Palace announced Thursday that the king initiated a formal process to remove Andrew’s style, titles, and honours.
Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and relocate to private accommodation.
This rare move—last seen in 1919 when Prince Ernest Augustus lost his title for siding with Germany in WWI—follows Andrew’s surrender of the Duke of York title earlier this month, triggered by new Epstein revelations and Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir alleging sexual abuse.
The palace called the measures necessary despite Andrew’s denials, adding: “Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies remain with victims and survivors of abuse.”
