Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has asserted that the majority of criminals perpetrating kidnappings and killings in the Southeast are Igbo indigenes, not Fulani herdsmen, as reported by Daily Post on July 8, 2025. Says it’s is difficult for herdsmen to operate freely in SouthEast as they have been run by Igbo terrorists who are indigenes .
A meeting with Anambra residents in Maryland, USA, Soludo challenged the narrative that Fulani terrorists are primarily responsible for the region’s insecurity.
He said:
“The so-called liberators hiding in the forests are homegrown criminals feeding fat on blood money. They come under the guise that they are the ones protecting you from Fulani herdsmen.
“They live in the bushes for months, but no one has ever asked how these so-called liberators survive in the forest. They must feed; who is paying for their services? Don’t they have needs?
However, a rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), has countered the governor, insisting that herdsmen were actually in the bushes in the zone.
